On November 24, 2019, the 2nd BIMP-EAGA–China Ministerial Meeting was held. In the joint statement, the two parties further discussed key areas of collaboration in 2020-2025. Faced with the new characteristics of globalization in the post-epidemic era and the accelerated development of regionalization, the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) needs more cooperation between China and ASEAN by the deepening of sub-regional cooperation.
